Margarita Bucket How Much Tequila To Add

So, go there now today the Olympic Winter Games to an end and a few training colleagues this morning at 8.30am and I landed at the airport of Palma de Mallorca, the winter now seems finally to be on its last legs.
So it is so slow in the hot phase of the pre-season. And after a training technically suboptimal runny winter I like to take the next three weeks in Alcudia to finally take momentum for the upcoming competitions.
of course I will report here how it goes and will document the odd incident, and graphics.
Lustig was one things in abundance, together with the Marcus King, Ali Will Gosch, Guido Wientgen, Lars Fricke, Folker Schwesinger, Henry Beck and myself, we are still a very good Force.
After the short last night and today's loose wheel unit with the guys I have to urgently go to bed. Tomorrow morning at 7.30am maintains, indeed wrong with an hour "breakfast run". The so-called because it is unfortunately only the breakfast afterwards ...;-)
In this sense,
Cheers

How To Cut Brake Mounts Off

colors in the rain

blue-white in the brown-gray-green paradise, Costa Rica 2007

If images from countries such as Costa Rica show is nearly always the word "paradise". In most cases, however, with the words "tropical" and that means that maybe is not a paradise. Namely, what one never sees in the pictures, is the extremely high humidity and oppressive heat that some people can be more life into hell. But sometimes you see in television pictures as people sweat during the interview, even though they sit comfortably with a cool drink in the shade under a fan and do exactly nothing, except the camera team to answer a few questions. In paradise you sweat so alone doing nothing.

The beach in the photo is really a dream beach. It is located in Tortuguero on the Atlantic coast, where we are on the same evening sea turtles were observed during oviposition. And despite the rain were offered beautiful photo opportunities, or just bizarre situations with the tourists and the sharp contrasts between the sometimes very poor rural population and the consumption of spoiled children from Europe or North America. while we can think about how best our photo equipment protect what we should only do with our books, which after a night in tropical paradise curl, as if they had lain for five days in the rain, and whether the effigy of a infant's also a seat in the boat is available (see left), many people there is no running water must be clean and more Hours paddling through the jungle to reach the nearest human settlement. This Costa Rica is still one of the positive examples from Central America, and I fear that in some other countries in the region, it still looks a lot worse. Now and then you should probably ask what is really important in life, and what I can contribute as a photographer to do so. But this question I will not discuss further, everyone should answer for themselves. This is not easy, there are several answers, not just a right.

end has me the "paradise" then spat out prematurely after just over three weeks since I had caught such a bad virus infection that we had to cancel the trip early. When I was just as good that I could get on a plane, we are back to Germany, where I needed more than a month to get me to recover fully. So much for "paradise" ...

Yet I can to anyone who does not mind the sweat, continuously, in good conscience recommend to travel to Costa Rica. After each walk you will be a completely sweaty T-shirt more, but eventually makes one's also no longer sufficient, because it dries so nothing in the high humidity, most with low probability, if a little wind is up, but even then it takes It is three days, then the laundry after all, only instead of soaking wet clammy. Pura Vida!

I'm tired of the German winter weather. I'm dreaming of going to Costa Rica and drinking ice cold Cuba Libre on the beach. What are you dreaming of?

Throw Pillows, Affordable

Rennsteig skiing

Today was the Rennsteig instead of skiing 19km freestyle and after I "tasted blood" last year, I had wanted to be happy again on the grid and after the whole months without really intensive units times "blow through" the engine and have fun ...;-)
why I did, after I had my children in the morning training group employs a bit, packed up the skis and went to Oberhof. After the usual pre-start procedure, I went just before 13h in the direction of launch. Since I had a pretty high starting point, I was unfortunately only in block 2 What did was a bit unfortunate, because now more than 200 people stood in front of me when I meander past me somehow. Only those who know the grass grow round in Oberhof, knows that this is easier said than done - in ways that often only a few meters wide. Well we go out somehow ...
The launch took place this time directly in the Rennsteig Arena, which is very nice because you so seldom the chance of the same routes, has to start, as the Axel Teichmann and Tobias Angerer, and after a round it went out into the woods. The starting gun sounded and from then on was announced to make yards. To go to all the uproar a bit out of the way, I've tried myself on double pole durchzumoggeln on the hard shoulder. Unfortunately, it worked more or less efolgreich until the first departure. That came after 400m and when I'm up purely driven in this bottleneck was already clear to me that I'm out of there hard to heal. There is a fallen, can happen in the deep snow, and all subsequent starts are down about it ... I then and I was back in the middle of the fray. So back up and keep going. The first half of the race can be summed up easily then: My "race tactics" if you want to call it that, was unceremoniously thrown overboard and I ran with all I had. After half the race it became quiet again, because everything was finally sorted. But I was pretty gray and had to for the next two or three kilometers in the end a group of "rest"
The second half but ran well and I was still able to walk a bit forward. When it went back toward the target, but again it was hard, because by the route change was still, I built up to now unknown, increase the again it had in itself. That was also the track section in which my pulse moving at very close range "skulls blown" and so I was glad when I pulled in to the stadium shortly. The result was a 42nd Place in 1:05 to beech, which meant over 13 minutes behind the winner. It's all crazy how fast you can go skiing. I have given everything and still lost every mile about 45 seconds. All in all, it has really paid off again because the fun factor is huge and the load was very, very tiring. I'm really looking forward to next year ...:-)
now stands but again, as so often in recent weeks that Lernerei in the foreground. On Monday biomechanics, not just my special discipline ...

In this sense I wish a nice weekend.

Cheers ...

buys fewer cameras!

The voice inside you never sleeps, Portugal 2004

power more photos and buy less cameras! This is my call to you after I have seen the results of last poll . Finally, almost half of the participants have said the vote that they get a new camera for Christmas or have purchased yourself.

Almost a third has since then also a new lens, and another quarter new accessories. After all, there is the other side (also a quarter of the participants) who have a picture book can give. I think that's really the best part of my survey results, because of such books can be damned really learn much. The preoccupation with the photographic technique and all equipment will eventually not mean that they necessarily produce better pictures. Some great books has vorzuweisen example, a certain Elliott Erwitt whose photos I would like to send you herewith warmly. Most of you will know him or some of its bizarre images have been already, but I lead him on here because there is always a pleasure to leaf through his books. Especially his dogs photos are great, and wonderfully far away from all Schmusebildchen sentimental or family pet snapshots. Years ago, when I still had no high-tech equipment, I had it set me on a vacation in the Algarve in Portugal aims to also produce some good dogs pictures. Of course my two photos shown here are not comparable with those of Elliott Erwitt, but I'm happy with them. Sure I will not make the mistake and give you the number of trips, I had to do to get these two successful pictures ...

my photos would have been better if I had had, instead of the "compact Digiknipse" a more expensive camera? Certainly not. Or if I had had interchangeable lenses? No, definitely not. On the contrary, I probably would have been so busy with the settings of the camera and the lenses that I have some scenes would have simply overlooked or that I may not have been able to react quickly enough. The photo above from the "weaker" is one of two pictures that I could do in the situation at all on the fly. And already the second has become nothing more because the dog was then jumped directly. And the photo on the right could only be done in the brief moment when the dog jumped on the wall, and before his master herunterzog him again, because it poses a risk of the 70 meter high cliffs realized. Sometimes I think it's just a pity that the files have only the original resolution of three megapixels, because that is sufficient for a short term, but could not for a nice big print, is the frame itself. Well, you can not have everything, after all that time I had at least the Canon S1 IS that at the relevant time and was not cheap. These days you could buy with the money have a nice entry-level DSLR with 10 megapixels and kit lens - we do live almost in paradise for photographers, compared with earlier! But the S1 IS after all, already had a great zoom range, a wonderful image stabilizer, and she could even record videos in VGA format with sound. But "movies with digital cameras" is anyway a special issue to which I would soon come back in a different article.

Well, I would of course in 2004 and can still shoot with pure analog miniature films on my Minolta SLR, but I was of the advantages of digital photography a lot too "spoiled". Finally, I found it just great that you could make as many pictures as you wanted, and not on 24 or 36 images per film was limited. In addition, we could finally see immediately after recording on the camera monitor what had become of the photo. Of that I'm still as enthusiastic as ever. Of that I had in fact been dreaming ever since I started with photography, although I can still clearly remember the days when there were no cameras at all! Still, I had at that time dreamed and hoped that computer technology would come at some point as far as it is today.

But please not forget to: Keep it simple! I try again and again, not to be in love gear, but to pay attention to the quality of photos and To see all the pictures as living on much more than mere technical brilliance. Unfortunately, just keep come as exciting new announcements as the Olympus E-P1 in between ... The survey to running at full speed so, click with you, if you have not already done it! My justification for employment with the cameras is so regularly that I have the easiest-to-use camera viewfinder, which is the least in the way when it comes to focus on the environment and without much effort at the decisive moment matching in a image capture. And that's a good excuse to occupy themselves in moderate volume with new cameras, right?

Do not mess around with your photo gear too much, just a simple grave camera and head out on the street to take pictures! I'm sure you'll find a dog that will happily pose for you.

PS: I see that see on this site to happen at the time also photos of dogs. Also, no lap dog, I like the reportage. If your response now but already allergic to dogs or related images, then click the link simply will not start. ..

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3no Cd

So, the first exams in the university are around and were, as far as I know the results already, some quite successfully. Have her go but I hope they continue. Training ran like this week is not quite so much. After loading the last three weeks, now rest week anyway so I'm between Monday and Wednesday did not do anything else than to learn and put your feet. That was not quite as planned, but technically was learning more than appropriate ...

went after the three physically "lazy" days, on Thursday But back to regular training. And because I triathlete typical, just a bit of a bad conscience must had because of the (few) missed training, did I do in athletics unit equal times correctly exaggerated and me, especially thanks to the "beetle" (see photo), a murderous muscles supplied. The role was then run over the relaxation ...;-)

Today I was with my brother Ben in the afternoon for skiing in Oberhof, load up there now a snow depth of about one meter cross-country skiing. And you can not really miss ...;-)

Next weekend is then Rennsteig skiing, because I will probably be at the start and sometimes give me the edge properly. That will be fun, and, when I think about the previous year ... the firm was already really hard time to pulse values beyond good and evil to fight through the trail. Well, my hope is a race marked by tactics:-D then it might be about 50th place out.
In this sense I wish you a peaceful weekend of rest.
Cheers ...

survey: buy Olympus E-P1 or not?

black and white with green and blue, Germany 2010

Update: The analysis of this survey and the new Survey to all MFT cameras can be found here !

was announced today by the New Olympus MFT Camera PEN presented E-PL1 that should be on the market in March 2010. Now make sure some of you question whether it is worthwhile to buy this camera or what alternatives to offer. Therefore I have started a new survey that accurately reads the data. Take part please just a mouse click, I'm very curious about your opinion! Thank you. (Incidentally, the previous survey will soon be evaluated in another post.) The two images in this review are of course not from the PL1, but from my Panasonic GF1 .

To help do I want in my preview of only the essential differences that arise when comparing the E-P1 to other previously available cameras.

  • The Flash: The PL1, unlike the first two PENs finally a small built-in flash (Guide number 7). Such a flash can be as fill flash or in dark rooms, very practical. Those who already carries constantly with a remote flash? The Panasonic GF1 has also an integrated flash (Guide number 6, ie less minimal). In contrast to the GF1 however PL1 dominated with their flash and the remote control of external flash units.
  • The image stabilizer: The added PL1, as it is already standard in Olympus, a housing built into the stabilizer, which is realized through the mobile suspended sensor. He is not quite as effective as in the first pens or in the FT models that promise all 4 stops profit. But the promised 3 stops of PL1 are not bad. In comparison, the Panasonic GF1 has no built-in image stabilization in the housing.
  • No orientation sensor: The E-P1 has to write unlike e-P2 (and E-30 and E-620) no built-in sensor that is used to host the pictures in the EXIF data and thus a to enable automatic rotation of photos. But this is not so tragic can the Panasonic GF1 with the 20/1.7 pancake lens does not stay, and I've gotten used to select in Lightroom after importing all the images in short-edge style, and then turn with a click appropriate. With Panasonic lenses, which have added an image stabilizer, GF1, however, can then identify the orientation. To my knowledge, the group can function in PL1 is not so simple "upgrade".
  • Compatible Lenses: Using a suitable adapter can be connected to the PL1 and also to the other PENs almost all Four Thirds lenses to operate smoothly, but there are very few restrictions on the contrast AF. GF1 The Panasonic, however there are many the Olympus lenses FT partly great limitations in auto-focus, see this list .
  • Operation: The PL1 is missing a few buttons and the dials of the other cameras, so that some settings are only accessible via menus. I think that's a shame, because I most often used settings such as aperture and exposure compensation (in the mode "Aperture Priority") can now be controlled directly by bicycle again. Here you can see that the PL1 aimed at more automation and the mass market rather than the ambitious photographer.
  • Design: The PL1 is it in "champagne", white and black. She sees the first two PENs extremely similar. However, it has only a 2.7-inch screen on the back, as opposed to the usual 3 inches. This, in my opinion, but rather unimportant, as the sharpness control of the photos you zoom into the images anyway, and for the display then goes safely. In addition, the PL1 contain some more plastic and a bit less robust construction than the first two pens. But then it is wonderfully light, it weighs only 300 grams without battery and memory card, or 15 g more than the Panasonic GF1, but 35 grams lighter than the E-P2. The dimensions of the MFT cameras are opposed to a few millimeters, almost identical, the E-P1 is at best a little thicker.
  • Other Features: The PL1 can of course also store movies in 720p (30 fps unfortunately fixed), but take over the internal microphone only mono sound. However, there is a separately available adapter that allows you to connect a stereo microphone. Similarly, there are the external electronic viewfinder VF-2 (the same as in the E-P2) as an option. Compared to the E-P2 provides the PL1 only a flash sync speed of 1 / 160 sec (instead of 1/180sec.) And only a fastest shutter speed of 1 / 2000 sec (instead of 1 / 4000 sec) but not much difference makes. (Actually, ridiculous that the producers only for the more external flashes shorter synchronization times ...) Any additional type filter or a lack of artificial horizon to the horizontal orientation of the camera in my opinion are minor details. In addition, you can not control the PL1 by remote control, but that I need personally.
  • Power: The battery BLS-1 came in the first pen and in the E-620 and allows the use of PL1 in stock about 290 pictures on one battery charge to be made (based on CIPA standard, with activated IS). I think this is a very acceptable level, if that with the 300 images of the E-P2 and 350 at the GF1 (each based on CIPA standard) compares. I can do personally with the GF1 usually much more photos, since I have neither the flash nor the LCD very common use, so I would guess that you should create for economical use with the E-P1 significantly more than 300 images.
  • Price: The Olympus E-P1 is in March for about 600, - € (body only) or about 650, - € (incl. 14-42mm kit lens) to be available. Other hand, costs the E-P1 is currently about 480, - € or 570, - € and the E-P2 740, - € or 860, - €. The Panasonic GF1 is the time for about 560, - € to have, and with the 14-45mm lens for about 690, - €. The street price of the new E-P1 (body only) is expected but after a few weeks, probably more towards 500, - € stabilize.
  • Important questions: How It looks like the image quality of the PL1 (sharpness, noise) and AF-speed? Supposedly the PL1 a very thin low-pass filter in front of the sensor, so it is hoped to have crisp, sharp images. The unknown quantity, which is however very important for my personal opinion, is the speed with which adjusts the PL1 autofocus! Here's hope that they can at least keep up with the Panasonic GF1 ...
My personal conclusion: if it is wrong image quality and AF speed, could become the PEN E-PL1 for me an alternative for the summer, because with its built-in image stabilizer, it offers a beautiful alternative to use stabilized by the FT-adapter and my old four thirds (tele) lenses. It could therefore be a good addition or a backup for the FT-cameras. Whether they can replace even the E-620, remains to be seen yet, as it must prove itself in direct comparison with the Panasonic GF1, with which I am very satisfied.

Although I think are too short for the intervals at which introduces new Olympus cameras, the E-P1 is a step in the right direction. But we still lack speed lenses for the MFT system from Olympus. So far there is in any case only the Panasonic Pancake 1.7/20mm. Unfortunately, Olympus brings until April / May, two new lenses at the start, the 9-18mm and the 14-150mm 4.0-5.6, each with a maximum aperture. Olympus here must still reloading.

What do you think about buying the new Olympus E-P1? Take your vote right now!

How To Build Horizontal Fence

rocks winter training ...

After the period was October to December marked above all by the excitement of the first semester and recurrent colds, the training has been running for the Christmas season back around.
The initial weeks after such a long training out was hard, but just the last three Trainigswochen were very successful and I could hopefully make a step in the right direction.
organized in the first weeks Marcus King and I load a winter camp. We lived at my house in the Saxony state legislature and we commuted all week between the swimming pool SAALEMAXX Rudolstadt and the trails in and around Oberhof. It was but quite hard inhuman hours (8am in the morning! But thanks to the SAALEMAXX team, we have already opened the doors of time ...) to jump into the water for 4 or 5km, and then another 30-40km on the cross country to stand-battens. The whole thing was rounded off by a couple of running sessions.
The last week was two load without any further incidents. The cycle training had indeed take place on the roll, because permafrost and snow cover in Jena have not just been invited to cycling. I thought it would be not take advantage of the perfect snow conditions on the weekend to place myself in Oberhof a bit on the ski. Am 13.02. I will then probably take the Rennsteig skiing. Let's see what that gives ...
Now I will but for now enjoy the rest week and then put my legs a bit. However, I have to use the physical break for some mental work, because since day review period is in the university. Today was gymnastics-attestation and tomorrow we start with the exams. Am 24.02. I have the last test first and then a few weeks off. That is a lot of time for training!
Am 28.02. I then fly right along with Marcus, Ali (Will Gosch) and Guido (Wientgen) to Alcudia. Strengthen us even Lars Fricke and Folker Schwesinger. I think that we are taken on a very good team and make proper kilometers. The boys fly but unfortunately after just 14 days back home, while I hang another third week turn around a bit in the fall of the extent missed catch.
I tell it how it goes.

Cheers ...
